Open-source licenses
Last updated 28 October 2026
All rights in Pausiq are reserved, except for the open-source parts below, which are covered by their own licenses.
lamejs 1.2.1 (MP3 encoding)
Pausiq uses lamejs, a JavaScript port of the LAME MP3 encoder, to create MP3 files. The encoding runs entirely in your browser (or in the Pausiq Mac app on your computer). Pausiq's servers never receive or encode your audio.
- Copyright: Alex Zhukov and the lamejs contributors, and the LAME project and its contributors.
- License: GNU Lesser General Public License, version 3 (LGPL-3.0, full text), which builds on the GNU General Public License, version 3 (GPL-3.0, full text).
- Unmodified: the file Pausiq uses is byte for byte the
lame.min.jsfrom the official lamejs 1.2.1 release. - Source code: a complete copy of the lamejs 1.2.1 source is on Pausiq's own server: lamejs-1.2.1-source.tar.gz (only the test recordings are left out). It is also at github.com/zhuker/lamejs and npmjs.com/package/lamejs. The LAME project: lame.sourceforge.io.
- Replacing it: the encoder is a separate file, vendor/lame.min.js, and is not mixed into Pausiq's own code. Pausiq only uses its public functions, so you may swap it for your own or a modified compatible build of lamejs, for example with your browser's developer tools (local overrides) or in the
vendorfolder of the Mac app. - On request, we will send you the same source code. Write to the address at the bottom of this page.
